This is a choice example of one of the carefully crafted Antoine Nouizillet pieces was minted in the period from 1852-56. Although dateless, BG-222, ranking as Rarity-4 in Breen-Gillio, is believed to have been struck in the earliest years. On the reverse 1/4 DOLLAR and a star are within a wreath. Pop 122. 1853 Half Dollar Round California Arms. NGC graded MS-63. Low rarity 5. Lovely rose color gold toning. One of the most sought after coins in the series. The "Arms of California" is a famous California fractional gold variety. Unique to BG-435. The die maker chose the California State Arms as his theme. The reverse is a miniature version of the Territorial gold coins issued by the U.S. Assay Office in the gold rush period. The present specimen has natural toning over lustrous surfaces. Carefully made and free of abrasions, it has choice surfaces without laminations or spots. A marvel of preservation! New to the census. Previously graded MS63 by PCGS (PCGS # 10471) .

1849 Moffat & Co. (San Francisco) $5 Gold. NCS graded Details of EF-40. Obverse damage. The damage is very slight and hardly noticeable. This design mimics the regular federal coinage of the year, with a Liberty head surrounded by 13 stars on the obverse, and an eagle with shield on its breast on the reverse. In place of LIBERTY on the headband appears MOFFAT & CO., the coin's minter (PCGS # 10240) .
